State Sen. Arnie Roblan, D-Coos Bay, will speak to the Oceanside Neighborhood Association, a Tillamook County-sanctioned citizens advisory committee, on Saturday, Feb. 7, 10 AM, in Oceanside.

Sen. Roblan, whose Senate District 5 extends 200 miles from south of Coos Bay to the northern tip of Bay Ocean Spit on Tillamook Bay, has been asked to address legislative issues involving the Oregon Forest Practices Act that cover chemical spraying in the Short Creek watershed, which serves as the drinking water for Oceanside and nearby Cape Meares.

In addition to Oceanside, the communities of Cape Meares and Netarts have been invited to attend. The meeting will be in the Oceanside Community Hall at 1550 Pacific Avenue.

Sen. Roblan is chair of the Senate Education committee and serves on the Ways and Means Committee as well as the Ways and Means education subcommittee.

The Oceanside Neighborhood Association, which was accepted by the Tillamook Board of Commissioners as a citizen advisory committee in 1998, represents the community of about 350 residents and several businesses. About 200 Oceansiders are active in the organization.

A miscalculation involving the pump station in Cape Meares has caused a delay in putting it into operation.

Plans are being developed in order to remedy the situation ASAP.  We apologize for the delay.

On Tuesday, December 30, a 10-ton pump station was installed in Cape Meares to provide water service to residents who live at elevations higher that where the new tank was located.  The installation went well.  The pump station will be tested for the next several weeks before it becomes operational.

Lyda Evacuating, Inc. is scheduled to pick up the completed pump station  on Monday, Dec. 29th.  The company has scheduled a crane for Tuesday, Dec. 30,  to set the structure on the pad that is located on 5th Street in Cape Meares.  Lyda has coordinated with Tillamook PUD to de-energize the powerlines in the vicinity from 10 am – noon on Tuesday.  The pump should be operational by the end of the day on December 30.

DEC 2014 Meeting Agenda

Work was begun on Monday, December 8, 2014, to install the booster pump to supply water from the new Cape Meares water tank to residents who live south of Pacific Street.

The work involved in preparing the site, installing a pad and then locating the pump on the pad will require approximately one week.  With the stormy weather in the forecast for the week the length of time before the pump will be operational may be longer.

There should be no effect on water service until the final connection is made between the pump and the pipes that will provide service.  If there is any interruption of water services check this site for details.
